At Cheshire College, we believe in providing you with as much support as we can to help you focus your attention on your education. This includes helping you get to College, which is why we offer free transport for 16-18 year old students. Find out if you’re eligible and your best route!
Our free transport service is available to all 16-18 year old students who live over a mile away from the Campus they study at. Our students travel to College from Cheshire, Staffordshire, Merseyside, North Wales and beyond. Getting here for free can save you money, time and stress, allowing you to focus on what’s important: your course, friends and getting the most out of your College experience!
In the average week, our coach service transports over 1,800 students directly to campus. This transport is intended to enable students to travel from their primary home address to college.
NO PASS, NO TRAVEL
As with any other transport method, the College Coaches operate on the basis of a ‘No pass, no travel’ policy. Bus passes are on student ID cards which are also required to enter college, so please make sure you have this with you when you leave the house! Routes are regularly reviewed and monitored for capacity and service requirements. If you live outside of the areas that are advised on the Transport Booklet, please get in touch to discuss your individual needs. Whatever your transport queries, we will try to help wherever possible. Crewe Campus Coach service routes and times can be found in the Transport Booklet, here. Please note that the timetable is subject to change, and we advise students to arrive at least 5 minutes early to their stop and be wearing their college lanyard ready to board the bus. Any changes to the timetable throughout the current academic year will be sent to learners by text message. All further terms and conditions of travel can be found on the Transport Booklet.
Public bus services that we may be able to provide passes for are Arriva, D&G, First and Stagecoach. For students that are eligible to receive a public bus pass, we ask that they purchase their ticket for the journey into college on their first day and then collect their bus pass as soon as they are able to. Students will receive text messages to let them know where to collect bus passes from at the start of the September term. If you are unsure of the route that you would take to your campus of study, we have a reference table on the Transport Booklet. For a more personalised route, each company that we have bus passes for have an online route planner.
Transport may be provided by your local council in some circumstances for full-time learners who are between the ages of 16 and 19. You must be attending the nearest appropriate college and live over 3 miles away from campus. Each council has their own Post-16 Transport Policy which you can find on their website. You will need to contact your local authority in order to apply. You can find the contact information here.
To find out if there is a service available to suit you, get in touch with one of our College Transport Offices based at the Campus where you will be studying:

There are three different bus options available depending on your home location:
The College encourages staff and students who live within three miles of their Campus to maximise their environmental friendliness by cycling to College. We have plenty of secure cycle storage and cycle racks. There are also changing and drying facilities in the Sports department to enable cyclists to change before going to class.
For students that live away from public or College bus routes, we can offer to refund the cost of train tickets. Students will need to keep either physical or digital tickets as long as it details the date of travel, route taken and ticket price and submit them to the team in person or via email.
We also encourage students to purchase an annual rail saver card such as the 16-17 Rail Saver (16-25 Rail Saver for those that are turning 18) in order to reduce upfront costs of train fares. Please note that refund of tickets is done on the basis of attendance and is monitored closely.
