Cheshire College is Highly Commended at Education Awards

Cheshire College was proud to be Highly Commended for its innovation at the Mid Chester Guardian Education Awards this evening.

The virtual awards ceremony was hosted by TV’s Dr Hilary Jones and showcased the outstanding contributions of local education providers. In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, the founders of the Education Awards have sought to celebrate the resilience of people in the Northwich and Mid Cheshire area.

The Innovation Award is designed to recognise schools or colleges which have excelled in the use of digital technology. When deciding on the shortlist, judges looked what positive impact the technology used had on the students, or how it benefitted the wider community.

Cheshire College’s new Digital Hub was the driving force behind the College’s nomination.

Located at the College’s Chester Campus, the new building officially opened in September 2022, as part of a £5m investment in digital skills across the region. The Digital Hub was purpose-built to boost skills, enhance career pathways and develop confidence amongst students, schoolchildren, businesses and the local community. It is estimated that over 50,000 students are likely to benefit from having easy access to the Digital Hub’s state-of-the-art equipment.

Receiving the recognition was Cheshire College Deputy Principal and CEO, Helen Nellist, who said: “This is a really proud moment for the College and all of those who dedicate their time to drive innovation throughout our students’ daily studies across our Campuses in Crewe, Ellesmere Port and Chester.

“Innovation is at the heart of our ambitions at Cheshire College and this recognition proves that our commitment has been recognised across the local region. We are committed to continuing transformative work, upskilling and improving the work prospects for thousands of young people in the region.”

Cheshire College are now accepting applications for September 2023 for those interested in studying a diverse range of subjects, designed to provide students with combined skills and knowledge that will fully prepare them for the next exciting stage of their life.  Visit www.ccsw.ac.uk to find out more.
