Level 3 - Access to Higher Education - Design

Course Summary
The Access to HE Diploma Design course is an integrated and supported year that is project based and underpinned with high expectations for reflective practice. It will enable learners to experience working within different Art and Design disciplines during taught workshops from specialist staff, as well independently revisiting areas they wish to specialise in. It will provide learners with the knowledge, awareness and skills they need to progress into Higher Education such as academic research and writing as well as guidance for the creation of a specialist subject portfolio for university interviews.

Entry Requirements
You are expected to have achieved GCSE Maths and English at grade C/4. You should also submit either a piece of written work which summarises your experiences to date and why you are enrolling on an Access to HE Diploma, or a portfolio (digital or sketchbook) of your previous artwork. You are encouraged to research the entry requirements of the HE programmes you aspire to progress to, prior to your interview for the programme, to ensure they will accept an Access to HE Diploma and if they have any other requirements.

Next Steps
Learners primarily progress into Higher Education and study in areas of design. They may also use the course to develop skills for self-employment.
