Course Summary
This qualification is suitable for you if you wish to gain knowledge of coding and programming. The qualification may also support progression into further study in coding or other topics within the digital sector. This qualification aims to: • focus on an introduction to coding within the digital sector. The objectives of this qualification are to enable the learner to gain an understanding of: • principles of coding • the stages of the software development cycle • coding terminology and the key principles of writing code • different coding types • best practices in coding • methods of testing and the DevOps process • effective communication and project management in coding

Entry Requirements
There is no specific prior knowledge you must have for this qualification. However, a Level 1 digital skills or information technology related qualification would be beneficial.

Your course may be FREE if you are:
  • Aged 19+ (subject to eligibility) and earning less than £17,374.50 per year (£1,447 per month) studying on Level 1 or Level 2 courses*
  • Aged 16-18 years
  • Aged 19-23 years and studying for your first full Level 2 or full Level 3 qualification

  • * from 1 April 2022 earnings limit is increased to £18,525 per year (£1,543 per month)
Depending on the cost of your course, you could pay your course fees in instalments to spread the cost over the duration of the course.
