Level 3 - Esports (Electronic Sports)

Course Summary

Esports (Electronic Sports) is the collective term used to describe competitive gaming at a professional level, with the top esports players often being the very best in the world at their respective game.


Our two-year, full-time course provides an in-depth study of the sector, supporting progression to employment across a range of roles within Esports or further study. Jobs that are available in these areas include:

  • Esports player
  • Team Coach
  • Shoutcaster and Presenter
  • Social Media Influencer
  •  Video Production Editor
  • Data Analyst

Learners will also develop key skills in the following areas: teamwork, communication, leadership skills, confidence building, decision making, reaction times, reading comprehension skills, cyber skills, dexterity and concentration.

You will study seven units in Year 1 and eight units in Year 2 from the following:

  • Customer Immersion Experiences
  • Video Production
  • Games Design

This qualification attracts UCAS tariff points and is recognised by higher education providers as contributing to entry requirements for many related courses. You can progress to higher-education degree programmes, such as a BA (Hons) in Events Management, BA (Hons) in Media or a BA (Hons) in Esports. You should check entry requirements for specific Degree and HND programmes with providers.



Entry Requirements
Five GCSEs at Grade 4 (C) or above, including a combination of Grade 3/4 or higher in Maths and English. Level 3 learners who do not achieve a Grade 4 in both English and Maths will continue to study this subject as part of their Study Programme.

Next Steps
You could progress into a wide range of Esports careers or progress to university on an Esports Degree or other related Degree courses.

Your course may be FREE if you are:
  • Aged 19+ (subject to eligibility) and earning less than £17,004 per year (£1,417 per month) studying on Level 1 or Level 2 courses
  • Aged 16-18 years
  • Aged 19-23 years and studying for your first full Level 2 or full Level 3 qualification
Depending on the cost of your course, you could pay your course fees in instalments to spread the cost over the duration of the course.
