Level 3 - Education and Training

Course Summary

The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is for those who work, or want to work as teachers/trainers in the further education and skills sector. It is also suitable for applicants who:

  • are not in a teaching/training role
  • have just started a teaching/training role
  • want a short qualification to enable them to make career choices
  • have already achieved the City & Guilds trainer skills or introduction to training qualifications

The programme consists of mandatory and optional units to total 12 credits. The qualification covers the knowledge and skills required by teachers/trainers in the further education and training skills sector, including:

  • The roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
  • Inclusive teaching and learning approaches
  • Assessment of learners
  • Facilitating learning and development for individuals
  • Facilitating learning and development in groups
  • Understanding principles and practices of assessment

Candidates must build a portfolio of evidence. Assessment will include presentations, written assignments and micro-teach sessions.

The qualification allows candidates to progress into employment as teachers/trainers, as well as to the following qualifications: • Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training • Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training

Fee Information
Fees (if shown) are full fees (reduced fees may be available for some courses depending on your circumstances).
Your course may be FREE if you are:
  • Aged 19+ (subject to eligibility) and earning less than £17,374.50 per year (£1,447 per month) studying on Level 1 or Level 2 courses*
  • Aged 16-18 years
  • Aged 19-23 years and studying for your first full Level 2 or full Level 3 qualification

  • * from 1 April 2022 earnings limit is increased to £18,525 per year (£1,543 per month)
Depending on the cost of your course, you could pay your course fees in instalments to spread the cost over the duration of the course.
