Lecturer/Instructor Demonstrator in Hairdressing (EL649/653m)

Salary: £27,486 – £41,467 (pro rata per annum) / £28,282 – £30,881 (pro rata per annum)

Contract Type: Fixed Term, Maternity Cover                     

Hours: 31.45hrs per week

Location: Crewe Campus

We are looking for an inspirational Lecturer/Instructor Demonstrator to take on an exciting new role within our Hairdressing department.

This role will be to start in September 2025 and is a split role working 20.35hrs as Lecturer and 11.1hrs as Instructor/Demonstrator.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lecturing on a range of courses in Hairdressing; 
  • Undertaking other duties including tutorial support and associated administrative tasks; 
  • Develop learners’ practical skills through demonstrations and instruction in practical workshops and realistic working environments;  
  • Assess learners against identified frameworks;
  • Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons in line with College policies; and 
  • Keep accurate records for learners’ progress in College. 

Key Person Specification Requirements:

  • Teacher trained (PGCE, DTLLS or CertEd) or commitment to work towards; 
  • Assessor Award (TAQA/A1) or equivalent; 
  • Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in Hairdressing; 
  • GCSE Grade C (4/5) in English and Maths; 
  • Understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion in work and the learning environment; 
  • Up-to-date occupational experience; and 
  • Enhanced DBS check. 

We welcome applications from Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) and from current industry practitioners who do not have a teaching qualification. Anyone joining the College will be part of a Lecturer Development Programme which provides staff with a range of support and training based on previous experience and individual need. The programme will offer a range of support and development opportunities, including inductions related to all College systems and processes, an assigned curriculum mentor and regular 1-2-1 support from the Quality team. Industry experts who do not currently hold a teaching qualification will be supported through our ‘Introduction to Teaching at Cheshire College South & West 12-week programme.
