This two-year Higher National Diploma (HND) will help you develop specialist technical skills and prepare for a career in the computing and digital sector. The course covers a broad range of computing topics, while giving you the opportunity to specialise in an area that supports your interests and career goals.
Specialist pathways include:
Throughout the course, you will develop your technical knowledge through a combination of lectures, practical sessions, group work, tutorials and workshops. Small tuition groups and support from industry-experienced teaching staff provide an environment where you can develop your skills and confidence.
As part of the programme, you will complete a Computing project set by the awarding body. This provides an opportunity to bring together the knowledge and skills developed during the course and apply them to a substantial piece of work.
Assessment is 100% assignment based, with no formal examinations. Online learning resources and support materials are also available to support independent study outside of the classroom.
By successfully completing the course, you will achieve an industry-recognised HND in Computing, helping you progress to higher-level study or pursue career opportunities within the computing and digital sector. There may also be opportunities to work towards additional professional IT qualifications through further study.
The HND is available for students who wish to progress from a HNC at Cheshire College. If you have obtained your HNC from another institution or have had a gap in your studies your application will be reviewed to ensure you have previously undertaken a combination of units that is complimentary to our HND programme.

The course fee shown is the co-funded rate which is only available for people living in the local authority areas of Cheshire West and Chester or Cheshire East. If you live outside of these local authorities please contact the College for fee information.

Do I pay this fee?
Higher Education courses such as HNCs and HNDs can be self-funded through a payment plan. However, for eligible students, a tuition fee loan can fund your course through Student Finance England and you may be eligible for a maintenance loan to support your education.
Please note, you should apply for your loan before the course starts. You only commit to the loan once you begin attending the course.
