How to apply

The Course

This course is designed for students who have completed a Level 4 acting qualification and want to continue developing their performance skills. It supports progression from an HNC at Cheshire College or from a similar qualification at another institution.

The course focuses on building your practical and professional skills in acting. Assessment takes place throughout the year and includes performances, written reflections, presentations, and collaborative projects.

You will develop your ability to perform in a range of styles and work as part of a creative team. The course also supports your understanding of the industry and prepares you for further study or work in performance.

You will have access to the College’s theatre and drama facilities, including performance spaces and rehearsal areas. These spaces support your practical work and give you the opportunity to develop your skills in a professional environment.

The HND is available for students who wish to progress from a HNC at Cheshire College. If you have obtained your HNC from another institution or have had a gap in your studies your application will be reviewed to ensure you have previously undertaken a combination of units that is complementary to our HND programme.

We welcome an application profile that meets one of the following:

  • A BTEC Level 3 qualification in acting or related or a related course. Applications will be considered from learners who have completed a level 3 qualification within a different subject area on an individual basis

  • A GCE Advanced Level profile that demonstrates strong performance in a relevant subject or adequate performance in more than one GCE subject

  • Other related Level 3 qualifications

  • An Access to Higher Education Diploma awarded by an approved further education institution

  • Related work experience as determined at interview with the Course Team Leader

  • An international equivalent of the above

and:

  • GCSE grades A* to C and/or 9 to 4 in maths and English

You can progress onto a top up degree or move into employment across a range of performance and creative arts roles.
