The Course

The course aimed at learners wanting to continue their education through applied learning. It provides a wide-ranging study of the engineering sector and is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in engineering. In addition to the skills, knowledge and techniques that underpin the study of the sector, the course gives you experience of the breadth and depth of the sector that will prepare you for employment, progression within employment or further study. Mandatory units include: -Engineering Design -Engineering Maths -Engineering Science -Managing a Professional Engineering Project -Mechanical Principles -Fundamentals of Thermodynamics and Heat Engines Plus four optional units from the following: -Electrical and Electronic Principles -Production Engineering for Manufacture

You should already hold a HNC in a related subject. Consideration will also be made for mature learners with relevant work experience.

Many universities now allow advanced entry onto the corresponding final year of a Degree. Some universities have direct articulations on to the third year of a bachelor’s Degree programme. (Learners should be aware that university admission criteria are always subject to change and understand the course entry requirements for subject, year, and grade before applying). After completion of the course, you could progress to the Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Engineering, equivalent to the second year of university or directly into employment.
