THE NEWS AT CHESHIRE COLLEGE:

Cheshire College assists with colleague development courses for global tech firm

October 31, 2023

Cheshire College – South and West has provided bespoke on-site training to 67 staff members at tech protection and support company, Likewize.  The Cheshire College team spent three months in the business upskilling staff with English, IT and Bespoke IT functional skills training.

The adult learning courses were created bespoke for Likewize, providing the opportunity for team members to develop skills, improve in their roles, and open future career opportunities.

Karen Roberts, Assistant Principal – Apprenticeships and Employer Engagement at Cheshire College – South & West, said: “Adult learning that fits around the person’s lifestyle and work is something our team are passionate about. It was fantastic to work with Likewize and deliver these nationally recognised skills to the team and see their confidence grow daily. We look forward to seeing where their new skills take them and supporting the business with an ongoing programme of adult learning.”

The partnership between Likewize and Cheshire College will continue, with successful learners being inducted into the next stage of education to develop their skills further and introducing more employees to the programme at the entry level.

Cheryl Jackson, Learning and Development Manager at Likewize said: “We are focussed on providing the opportunity for colleagues to learn and develop at all levels of the organisation”.

“We approached Cheshire College to help us deliver this learning and were able to develop close working relationships with the staff and tutors. With a small investment in time, it was great to see colleagues develop skills, become more confident and improve their effectiveness.  As well as gaining important skills, we’ve found that by investing in our colleague’s development, there is greater levels of engagement which also helps to improve overall performance.

“English and IT skills are fundamental in business, so by partnering with Cheshire College we’ve been able to support our colleagues both in their current roles and their longer-term futures.”
