Accessibility Statement

This accessibility statement applies to the Cheshire College website:

www.ccsw.ac.uk

Cheshire College is committed to making our website accessible to as many people as possible. We want everyone to be able to access information about our courses, services and support, regardless of ability or technology.

How accessible this website is

We aim to make our website accessible in line with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2, at Level AA.

Much of the website is accessible, but we know that some parts of the site are not yet fully compliant.

What you should be able to do on this website:

  • We have designed our website so that you should be able to:
  • Change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
  •  Zoom in up to 200% without text spilling off the screen
  • Navigate most of the website using a keyboard
  • Accessibility tools to help aid users such as contrast viewing
  • Listen to most of the website with most screen readers (tested with NVDA)
  • Access content that is clearly structured using headings, lists and labels

Known accessibility issues

We are aware of the following accessibility issues on our website:

  • Some older PDF documents with a more designed layout are not fully accessible to screen readers
  • Some images may not have appropriate alternative text
  • Some third-party content and tools used on the website may not fully meet accessibility standards
  • Some embedded media may not have captions or transcripts

These issues are more common on older content and some third-party platforms that are outside our direct control.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

Cheshire College is actively working to improve the accessibility of our website. This includes:

  • Replacing inaccessible PDF documents with accessible web pages where possible
  • Including both options for a readable PDF and a designed PDF for different viewership
  • Ensuring new PDFs meet accessibility standards
  • Improving image alternative text and page structure across the site
  • Reviewing and improving the accessibility of third-party tools and embedded content
  • Testing new pages and features against WCAG 2.2 AA standards

Accessibility is considered as part of our ongoing website development and content updates.
