Job Description:


Salary: £18,473 – £20,066 (per annum)

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: Full time

Location: Ellesmere Port Campus


We are seeking a Technician to join our Arts curriculum area to provide an effective technician service for learners and staff at our Ellesmere Port campus.


Key Responsibilities:

  • The preparation, storage and maintenance of materials and equipment within the curriculum area;
  • Develop and construct activities for use in practical sessions, including the booking out of resources;
  • Promote the maintenance of a healthy and safe working environment through actively contributing to the assessment, monitoring and review of both health and safety procedures and information resources; and
  • Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons in line with College policies.


Key Person Specification Requirements:

  • GCSE Grade C (4/5) in Maths and English (or equivalent);
  • NVQ 3/BTEC National Diploma in relevant discipline (or equivalent);
  • Experience of working in a similar educational environment;
  • Excellent working knowledge of deploying and maintaining Production Arts equipment (e.g. lights, cable management, etc);
  • Excellent digital skills; and
  • Enhanced DBS check.

Our Academy West restaurant and training kitchens are fully-fitted with equipment that is used in the industry. Travel and Tourism learners benefit from doing airline safety briefings and serving in a real section of aircraft fuselage. Engineering learners use industry-standard machinery to perform various engineering operations such as welding, fabrication, repair and maintenance.  Our bespoke hair, beauty and barbering salons create an authentic environment where learners gain skills in the various elements of the industry.
