Applying for College

How can I find out more information about courses?

You can sign up for one of our Virtual Open Events throughout the year. Our online experience is not to be missed! Discover all you need to know about the College so you can make the right decision about your future. We also have ‘Experience Evenings’ where you can come into College and experience a curriculum area that you are interested in. Reserve your place on one of these events by clicking here. Alternatively, visit our homepage and download one of our course guides.

How do I apply for College?

Once you’ve chosen your course, click the ‘Apply’ button. Depending on the course you’ve selected, you will either be able to enrol or apply online.

When can I enrol on a course?

It depends on which course you’re interested in. For many part-time or short courses, you can enrol all year around. Enrolment on full-time courses usually begins on GCSE results day. For more detailed information, contact our Admissions Team on the contact details on the bottom of this page.

I’ve applied for a College course – what happens next?

If you’ve applied for a full-time course, you should receive an acknowledgement within 24 hours. You’ll be invited to have a guidance interview. If you have not received an acknowledgement within one week, please contact our Admissions Team on 01244 656555 or 01270 654654.

When will I hear about my interview?

Guidance evenings are held monthly from October to August, you will be invited to an interview within 1 month of submitting your application.

I missed my interview. What should I do?

Contact the Admissions Team (contact details will be on your letter) and they will rearrange the interview for you.

How do I get to the College?

Can I get help with a bus pass and course equipment?

There are a number of funding avenues available. Please visit our Finance page for more information.

What do I need for my interview?

If you are a school leaver you will need to have access to your most recent school report/predicted grades. Some courses may ask for other specific items – these will be mentioned in your ‘invitation to interview’. If you have left school you may be asked to provide copies of your completed qualification certificates. Original certificates will be required at enrolment.

I’ve accepted my offer – what happens next?

You will receive regular communications over the summer period, which will include information on when to enrol and when your course starts. You can call us at any time if you’re unsure of anything.

I’ve changed my mind on the course I’ve accepted. I want to do something else

This is not a problem. We can help you find an alternative course that’s more suited to what you want to do, just call the Admissions Team on the contact details at the bottom of the page.

Support

What financial support can I receive whilst I’m at College?

Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial support for travel, materials and other course-related costs. Find out more about funding on our Finance page.

What help can I get with childcare costs while I’m at College?

You may be eligible for support from the Learner Support Fund, or Care to Learn to help with childcare fees.

I want some careers advice, can I get any help from the College?

Have you had a look at the careers information on the course information pages? These can provide valuable insights into the jobs and careers associated with the courses we offer.  We also have Careers Advisers based on all of our Campuses, please call 01244 656200 (for Chester and Ellesmere Port) or 01270 654653 (for the Crewe Campus) or come to your local Campus where staff can offer advice or book you in for a careers advice session.
