Logistics is a major industry in the UK that employs over 7 million people. The logistics industry is currently suffering from a shortage of labour and with an ageing workforce, there are many varied opportunities for those interested in working in this developing area.

Logistics is about the transportation and storage of goods in a timely and cost-effective manner and can involve rail, road, air and sea. There are many opportunities within logistics including Transport Planner, LGV Driver, Warehouse Operative, Goods Handler, Operations Manager and Fork Lift Truck Driver. Step Forward

Employability Skills This course focuses on the different employability skills that can support you in securing a job. You will learn about the different ways to search for a job, how to produce a professional CV and how to approach different interview techniques that are used by a wide range of employers. 

Award in the Principles of Carrying & Delivering Goods – This course is for learners who would like to gain a clear understanding of carrying and delivering goods by road. We will cover the legal requirements for driving goods and the importance of professional customer service when completing a delivery.  

Motor Vehicle Repair (Level 1 Award in Transport Maintenance) – This course covers the basics of safely working on a passenger vehicle. You will learn how to raise a vehicle on jacks, axle stands and off the ground completely on ramps. We will also focus on changing oil and filters, removing and refitting wheels and how to fit new tyres to a wheel. 

Introduction to the Role of the Professional Taxi & Private Hire Driver Certificate – This course will look at the information required to apply for a taxi driver license. You will learn about health and safety, legislation, customer service and the importance of maintaining your vehicle. Once you have completed the qualification, you will need to apply to your local licensing authority to obtain your licence. 

Principles of Customer Service – This course covers the basic elements of how to deliver an excellent customer service experience. You will learn how to deal with queries and problems in a professional manner, communicate appropriately with customers and understand the current legislation and regulations within hospitality organisations.                                                                                          

Award in the Prevention & Control of Infection – This course focuses on understanding how to prevent and control the spread of infection in order to avoid individuals unknowingly causing their family, friends, colleagues and others surrounding them to become unwell. 

Certificate in Equality & Diversity – This course looks at promoting social awareness and good awareness of equality and diversity in any setting, which may include the workplace, community and personal environments. UK employers are often looking to improve both equality and diversity within their companies, so having an equality and diversity qualification is a great addition to any CV. 

Certificate in Safeguarding & Prevent – This course will look at the different impacts and key issues surrounding the safeguarding of both adults and children. You will learn how to recognise, respond to and reduce the likelihood of abuse. 

Certificate in Mental Health Awareness – This course looks at raising awareness of mental health. As UK employers, particularly within the health and social care sector, are increasingly interested in their staff having a clear understanding of mental health illnesses, this qualification aims to support this by covering the different types of mental health illnesses and how to effectively support individuals that are suffering from them. 

Step Up

Introduction to First Aid – This course looks at the main focus for first aid which is to save lives, prevent an injury or illness from worsening, or to help speed recovery. First aid for cardiac arrest, choking, internal bleeding, minor wounds, and minor soft tissue injuries are also covered in this course. 

First Aid Programme – This course is a mixture of both practical and theory. You will learn how to examine a casualty, use a defibrillator, familiarise yourself with basic life support and learn how to control bleeding and trauma. 

Health & Safety Award – This course focuses on an introduction to the basic principles of health and safety, including hazards and risks within the workplace. 

Prepare to Deliver Excellent Customer Service – This course covers the basic elements of how to deliver an excellent customer service experience. You will learn how to deal with queries and problems in a professional manner, communicate appropriately with customers and understand the current legislation and regulations within hospitality organisations. 

GDPR Induction – This course focuses on the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) that came into effect in Europe on 25th May 2018. By completing the course, you will gain a greater understanding of GDPR, including how to apply its principles in your work and how it safeguards the rights of individuals in relation to data collection and management. 

Manual Handling Safety at Work – This course looks to support employees responsible for transporting heavy loads by hand (including lifting, putting down, pushing, pulling, carrying or moving). You will also learn how to carry out comprehensive manual handling risk assessments in the workplace. 

Stress Management – This course will provide you with the knowledge required to fully understand the impact stress can have and the key issues surrounding stress. It will raise your awareness of the harmful effects stress can have on individuals and those closest to them. The course is ideal if you would like more information on this subject for personal reasons, or if you would like to work with and support individuals with stress. UK employers reported that 12.5 million working days were lost due to work-related stress, depression or anxiety in 2016/17, therefore learning to manage stress can have a significant, positive effect on your mental well-being. 

Building Stakeholder Relationships using Effective Communication – The focus of this course is to identify and understand stakeholders’ needs, know the purpose and benefits of building relationships with different stakeholder groups and the methods of communicating with them to achieve results.
