Step into Employability – This course focuses on the different employability skills that can support you in securing a job. You will learn about the different ways to search for a job, produce a professional CV and how to approach different interview techniques that are used by a wide range of employers.
Office IT & File Management – This course focuses on introducing the different Microsoft Office products. You will learn about Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel, along with how to organise your files in a productive way.
Principles of Team Leading (VRQ) Certificate – This course focuses on the knowledge and understanding required to successfully lead a team of individuals. You will learn about the different principles of team leading and the importance of a team leader’s ability to confidently communicate with a range of stakeholders.
Information, Advice or Guidance Certificate – This course focuses on the knowledge associated with providing effective information, advice or guidance, which includes signposting, referrals, record keeping, confidentiality and communication/listening techniques. UK employers are often interested in candidates who can demonstrate an understanding of the importance of interacting appropriately with customers, clients and colleagues.
Certificate in Equality & Diversity – This course looks at promoting social awareness and good awareness of equality and diversity in any setting, which may include the workplace, community and personal environments. UK employers are often looking to improve both equality and diversity within their companies, so having an equality and diversity qualification is a great addition to any CV.
Certificate in Lean Organisation Management Techniques – This course looks at understanding lean organisation techniques and the skills required to work effectively in a team within the business sector. You will learn about the information required to use different lean organisation and business improvement techniques in business and how to work together as a team.
Introduction to First Aid – This course looks at the main focus for first aid which is to save lives, prevent an injury or illness from worsening, or to help speed recovery. First aid for cardiac arrest, choking, internal bleeding, minor wounds, and minor soft tissue injuries are also covered in this course.
First Aid Programme – This course is a mixture of both practical and theory. You will learn how to examine a casualty, use a defibrillator, familiarise yourself with basic life support and learn how to control bleeding and trauma.
Health & Safety Award – This course focuses on introducing the basic principles of health and safety, including hazards and risks within the workplace.
Prepare to Deliver Excellent Customer Service – This course covers the basic elements of how to deliver an excellent customer service experience. You will learn how to deal with queries and problems in a professional manner, communicate appropriately with customers and understand the current legislation and regulations within hospitality organisations.
GDPR Induction – This course focuses on the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) that came into effect in Europe on 25th May 2018. By completing the course, you will gain a greater understanding of GDPR, including how to apply its principles in your work and how it safeguards the rights of individuals in relation to data collection and management.
Manual Handling Safety at Work – This course looks to support employees responsible for transporting heavy loads by hand, including lifting, putting down, pushing, pulling, carrying or moving. You will also learn how to carry out comprehensive manual handling risk assessments in the workplace.
Stress Management – This course will provide you with the knowledge required to fully understand the impact stress can have and the key issues surrounding stress. It will raise your awareness of the harmful effects stress can have on individuals and those closest to them. The course is ideal if you would like more information on the subject for personal reasons, or if you would like to work with and support individuals with stress. UK employers reported that 12.5 million working days were lost due to work-related stress, depression or anxiety in 2016/17, therefore learning to manage stress can have a significant, positive effect on your mental well-being.
Building Stakeholder Relationships using Effective Communication – The focus of this course is to identify and understand stakeholders’ needs, know the purpose and benefits of building relationships with different stakeholder groups, and the methods of communicating with them to achieve results.
COSHH Risk Assessment – This course is for anyone who has to carry out Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) risk assessments in the workplace. You will learn how to identify risks and the control measures needed, and ensure that staff understand how to work safely with hazardous substances.
Leading and Motivating a Team – This course will look at the knowledge required to understand how to lead and motivate a successful team. You will learn how to effectively communicate, different motivational techniques and different ways to develop your team.
Foundation Award in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering – This is a bridging course for those who have not been in education for some time and are currently working in the industry who wish to progress to university-level courses or progress in their careers to management level positions. The course is a blend of theoretical and practical elements of engineering such as maths, science, electrical and mechanical principles, algebra, trigonometry and geometry, 2D and 3D CAD, welding and bench fitting processes. Assessment is by assignments. After 9 weeks of the course you will receive the BTEC Level 3 Certificate and, by completing a further 9 weeks, you will receive the BTEC Level 3 Award.
Welding – The Level 1 Awards in Introductory Welding Skills are ideal if you are new to the welding industry and want to gain knowledge and experience in welding work. We offer courses in Tungsten Inert Gas, Metal Inert Gas and Manual Metal Arc and each course will cover welding techniques, welding joints and health and safety relating to equipment and welding processes. Progression opportunities are available on welding courses at Levels 2 and 3 at the College.
Certificate in Engineering – The course is aimed at adults who wish to gain practical skills in engineering or change their career. The course will introduce you to various engineering processes including machining, tooling, fabrication and welding in order to produce engineering pieces. Assessment is competence-based on learners’ portfolio of work. Progression from this course is to the Engineering Diploma at Level 1.
