In this Level 3 Diploma you will gain the underpinning knowledge and practical skills required to carry out professional sports massage techniques. The units you will cover are: Functional anatomy / physiology and nutrition for Sports Therapies; Applying sports massage methods to non-pathological tissue. You will also learn a range of massage techniques including a palpation, range of movement and stretching techniques. You will work on a wide range of clientele including male an female, adolescent and adults. Some of the assessments will be carried out at sport events.
People with a massage background with a keen interest in expanding their skills into sports massage. Personal trainers or other sports performers - to expand range of skills. Sports coaches / managers to help to prevent injuries and to aid recovery after sport. Although a prior qualification in body massage is not compulsory it is an advantage. In addition to attending the course you must be able to give at least 3 hours per week home study.

This course runs on one evening per week from 6-9pm.
GCSE in Science / Anatomy and English at grade C or above or equivalent level 2 related qualification eg; NVQ 2 Beauty; BTEC Beauty Therapy Science / Sports Development / Science at Merit or above. Level 2 or 3 Complementary Therapies. Mature learners will be assessed on an individual basis.
Progression to : Level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy
