The Course

The Access to Higher Education Diploma (Criminology) is a Level 3 qualification which prepares people without traditional qualifications for study at university. The course is structured to allow you to develop both knowledge of the subjects and academic study skills that will prepare you for study at higher education level. Your Personal Development Tutor will provide support and guidance throughout the programme and will encourage you to reflect on your progress, identify your strengths and areas to develop and will be there to help you to stay on track. The course is broken down into manageable units where you will study Psychology, Sociology, Law, Criminology and Study Skills. Assessment will be in the form of assignments, essays, workbooks, in class examinations and presentations. The Diplomas within the Social Science subject area provide an opportunity for learners to develop their understanding and knowledge in preparation for progression onto higher education level courses relating to subjects and careers such as Criminal Justice, Psychology, Social Care, Social Work and Youth Justice.
