How to apply

The Course

You will complete nine internally-assessed units and one externally-assessed assignment. You will also complete a minimum of 100 hours’ work experience over one day per week.

Upon achievement of the Certificate, you may be able to progress to the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care. You will have the choice of two pathways

  • Health & Social – this route is suitable for those who want to work in social care, social work or counselling
  • Health Sciences – this is for those who to train to become a Midwife, Paramedic or a Nurse

The Certificate supports learners’ access to Higher Education and progression into a wide range of job roles within the health and social care sector. Upon completion of the second year, learners will have gained UCAS points to the equivalent of three A Levels.

Typically you will need 5 GCSEs at grade 4, including a 4/3 combination for maths and English
Successful learners will be qualified to embark on careers in the health and caring professions, or further training such as nursing. Students who reach a high standard can enter paramedical careers such as occupational therapy and speech therapy. The Level 3 Extended Diploma is also accepted by universities as an alternative to A-Levels. Students can progress to Biology degree courses or teacher training.
