Apprenticeship Employer Incentive Programme

The Apprenticeship Employer Incentive Programme will be available from 1 August 2021. It will provide support for Employers to recruit apprentices, help provide individuals and employers with the skills needed over the long term and prevent skills shortages.

Don’t miss out!

The Government has recently increased incentive payments for hiring a new apprentice. This support is available for any organisation, so make sure you don’t miss out. Incentive payments for hiring a new apprentice are available for any organisation, no matter the size or the sector. The important thing is that you hire an apprentice who: is new to your organisation and starts their contract of employment and their apprenticeship between 1 August 2020 and 31 January 2021.

Get up to £3,000 for each new apprentice!

For apprentices aged: 16 to 24, employers will receive £3,000. 25 and over, employers will receive £1,500. You can spend the payment on anything to support your organisation’s costs, from facilities and travel to uniforms and salaries. This is in addition to the £1,000 payment we already give to help you meet the needs of some groups of apprentices in the workplace.

What are the benefits?

The benefits to hiring an apprentice can be huge. Here are just a handful:

  • Keep or develop your competitive advantage
  • Increase productivity and efficiency
  • Aid employee satisfaction and retention
  • Tackle the skills shortage
  • Reduced recruitment costs
  • Future proof your business
