This new Level 2 course focuses on Bench Joinery and will help you to improve
on skills learnt at Level 1. Units of practical work and classroom study include
safe working practices, underpinning construction knowledge, circular saw
operation, producing and marking out and the manufacture of routine joinery
products.


On this Level 2 course you will focus on bench joinery, and cover units that
include:



  • Know how to carry out safe working practices in construction

  • Carry out safe working practices in construction

  • Knowledge of information, quantities and communicating with others

  • Information, quantities and communicating with others

  • Knowledge of building methods and construction technology

  • Building methods and construction technology

  • Know how to set up and operate a circular saw

  • Know how to produce setting out details for routine joinery products

  • Produce setting out details for routine joinery products

  • Know how to mark out from setting out details for routine joinery products

  • Mark out from setting out details for routine joinery products

  • Know how to manufacture routine joinery products

  • Manufacture routine joinery products

Four GCSEs at Grade 3 (D) or above including Maths and English. Level 2 students who do not achieve a grade 4 in English and/or Maths will study a GCSE in the subject(s) as part of their study programme.

Progress to the Level 3 Diploma in Bench Joinery.
