Performing Arts (Acting) BTEC HNC – Level 4 – EDEXCEL (RQF)


Become part of our new and innovative production company as a dancer, actor, technician, designer and / or events manager. On our Performing Arts HNC you are part of a working production team creating, organising, performing and managing all manner of events and productions including Musicals, Fashion Shows, Verbatim Theatre, Pantomime, Dance shows and innovative work. We are able to offer all of our HNCs a unique package whereby a student can study a particular pathway e.g. acting, technical theatre or dance, or you can take a unit across any of the four pathways meaning you can leave the course with a rounded knowledge of all aspects of the entertainment and theatre industry by gaining a general HNC in Performing Arts.

Specialist Pathways:

The course will equip you with the knowledge, understanding and skills for success in a range of positions.

· Voice and Speech for Actors

Technical Arts
Areas of study will include:
· The Performing Arts Industry (a research project)
· Professional Development, Production Communication
· Stagecraft

You will study a range of modules which may include:
· The Performing Arts Industry (a research project)
· Professional Development
· Ballet
· Jazz
· Contemporary Dance

We welcome an application profile that meets one of the following:

· a BTEC Level 3 qualification in Performing Arts
· a GCE Advanced Level profile that demonstrates strong performance in a relevant subject or adequate performance in more than one GCE subject
· other related Level 3 qualifications
· an Access to Higher Education Diploma awarded by an approved further education institution
· related work experience as determined at interview with the Course Team Leader
· an international equivalent of the above


· GCSE grades A* to C and/or 9 to 4 in maths and English

Successful candidates may be able to move on to the HND in Performing Arts (also delivered at the College) then progress to a top up degree. They also can gain employment in a wide range of performance art sectors.

The College is also able to offer a BA (Hons) top up degree in Technical Theatre. This one year Level 6 programme is being offered in conjunction with its partner, the University of Wolverhampton and will be delivered at Cheshire College - South & West at the Ellesmere Port Campus.
