This certificate is a 30-credit qualification. Students will work with the College record label, the in-house local radio station and the media department to develop their skills for professional employment in the music and audio/visual industry.
Tutors on the course offer their professional expertise to deliver a largely practical focus including: recording, sequencing and sound manipulation, whilst providing essential grounding in theoretical elements.
There are no formal examinations on this course but you will be expected to complete some formative testing and on-line assessment. Leaners will be expected to complete a portfolio of work that demonstrates their skills as an audio engineer.
The Level 3 Certificate will provide skills in:
• Audio recording
• Audio/MIDI sequencing
• Synthesis and sampling
To be considered for entry onto our A Level courses you should have:
Three Grade 5s (Bs) plus two Grade 4s (Cs) including Grade 4s in English Language and Maths plus a high average GCSE point score and any individual subject requirements.
Music at GCSE is preferred. Alternatively, applicants who have noteworthly musical experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Progression onto a Subsidiary Diploma (equivalent to one A-Level) in your second year of study will extend your specialist knowledge and develop practical skills required in the creative music industry. Alternatively, the qualification offers UCAS points like any other A Level for progression onto Higher Education.
